Q: Tell us about yourself!

My name is Dayne. I am currently in the Swiss timezone.

Q: Why did you decide to learn coding?

I discovered coding during the first COVID lockdown, a period where I was unable to work and gave me a chance to learn something new. I have always been curious to learn about coding, so I got started. I jumped around different courses and found that web development is something I’d enjoy.

Coding is actually a very creative thing. You still need to think analytically and solve problems, but you also get to work with visual things like how a webpage looks. Front-end web development is very enjoyable and creative.

Q: How do you like learning at Altcademy?

Previously, I have learned to code with Udemy, FreeCodeCamp and Codecademy. These platforms offer different things. For Altcademy, there’s a good balance between text and video. Altcademy also has well-defined structures like quizzes and assignments for each section to make sure you understand the lessons.

Altcademy makes sure that you understand the concepts before moving on to the next, and if you have questions, you can always ask mentors.

I really enjoy the fact that we get to build different projects throughout the courses, instead of just reading. Altcademy is also more affordable and accessible than other bootcamps!

Q: What are your goals?

Nothing is set yet. I will see where life takes me but I hope to put my coding knowledge towards something in the future. So far, I really enjoy coding, so I want to learn as much as I can!
