Q: Tell us about yourself

My name is Francis. I live in the Philippines! I graduated in hotel and restaurant management and also went through school for political science and previously worked as a seafarer. My initial plan was to pursue law school next, but way back year 2017 while I’m still at college I learned about crypto and blockchain and I realized that technology skills are in high demand as time goes by, since the trend now a days is very obvious that we are headed towards everything digital, so I chose to learn to code.

Q: Is this your first time learning to code?

Actually, this is not the first time I learn to code. I already knew a little on how to code basic programs. I attended another online school that’s more focused on cryptocurrency and blockchain. I have already learned some basic JavaScript and Solidity but one thing I realized is that for me to be able to deploy my project is that I need to have a skill on the front-end, so that I can build a client side working product, that’s why I was looking for a bootcamp that is focused more on web development.

I want to learn more about front-end web development, and I found Altcademy online. I think Altcademy is much more aligned with what I want to learn.

I took Coding 101 from Altcademy and had a really good experience! I have also found that Altcademy offers a very extensive and detailed curriculum in web development.

Q: How’s your experience so far in Altcademy?

I’m having fun so far! You get to build cool stuff in projects by using the knowledge you have learned.

I’ve learned so many things, and my mentor is very good and taught me a ton. When I have problems or when I am stuck, I can ask my mentor via Slack and Zoom.

Q: What are your future goals?

I want to deploy my own Capstone project, and then find a job at any company in the Philippines or even abroad as long as it is tech-related, especially a job where I can apply my coding skills that I learned in Altcademy.
