Q: Tell us about yourself

I am currently in Sweden. I moved to Sweden from Ethiopia in 2015. I have worked in different non governmental organizations before. I am now 46 years old and have 2 master’s degrees. I decided to change my career and learn to code.

Q: How did you discover Altcademy?

I searched for many kinds of coding education methods and came across these coding bootcamps. A lot of them are very expensive. Some bootcamps are now completely online. When I searched for an online school that I can afford, I found Altcademy. I checked the reviews and recommendation sites and decided to join. It was a big decision for me!

Q: How are you finding learning to code online?

It’s not a walk in the park! Personally, I’m more of a social science / environmental science person. I’m trying to study and learn every day. I used to run a solar social enterprise, so I built its website using website builders, where I get to click on different elements and play around with HTML & CSS. Learning to code needs a lot of dedication. Altcademy’s curriculum is one of the reasons why I chose it. It’s very in-depth. I am one-click away from mentors. Mentors also give me feedback on my assignments and projects.

Q: What are your goals for the future?

I’m dedicated to finish studying and start working in the field. I am hoping to become proficient in programming and building things in the upcoming year and start making a real impact in this industry!
