Q: Tell us about yourself

My name is Calvin. I am currently in Nigeria! I am currently taking the Full-stack Web Development program at Altcademy. I am working on the Apple Clone in the HTML & CSS course now. So far so good!

Q: How did you decide to learn to code?

I had been thinking about learning how to code since college. Sometimes, I would do some online tutorials to learn more about coding. I thought I would get into the law industry, but I ended up in finance and consulting. Nowadays, I am interested in tech and its potential to impact many lives. I told myself that now is the time to get committed and learn to code so that I can contribute to the many exciting projects taking place.

Q: Why choose Altcademy?

I came across Altcademy only a few days before I decided to enroll. The online programs seem to be very robust and well priced. After looking through different reviews, I was quite convinced that this will be worth it!

Q: Did Altcademy live up to your expectations?

This is the first time I have participated in a bootcamp, and it’s an online bootcamp. Mentorship and feedback are good. Unlike self-studying, you are given a clear and robust curriculum structure with timely feedback on your assignments and exercises. Each assignment helps me build up my confidence in coding.

I like that we have room to learn and practice by ourselves while having a mentor who can point out certain things we should focus on. So, your hands are not tied, but when you have questions, you can choose to rely on the mentors.

Q: What’s your end goal?

I plan to become a professional software developer potentially in the UK or Canada. It would also be great to find remote opportunities after I have gained more experience. While it’s early days, I would also love to contribute to the advancement of blockchain technology, whether it’s through open source projects or a job role. I am looking forward to learning about back-end web development!
